Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: May 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy (the “Policy”) describes what is and is not allowed on the HouseHub platform (the “Platform”). It is part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Service, and it applies to everyone who uses the Platform — Homeowners, Professionals, and visitors — and to all content you submit. If you break this Policy, we may remove content, limit features, or suspend or terminate your account, and we may report unlawful activity to the authorities.

1. General Expectations

When you use HouseHub, you agree to act lawfully, honestly, and respectfully. Use the Platform only for its intended purpose: helping Homeowners discover and connect with Professionals for legitimate home-related work. Do not use the Platform in any way that could harm HouseHub, other Users, or any third party.

2. Prohibited Content

You must not post, upload, transmit, or share any content that:

  • is false, misleading, deceptive, or fraudulent;
  • is unlawful, or promotes or facilitates illegal activity;
  • is harassing, threatening, abusive, defamatory, libellous, hateful, or discriminatory (including on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or disability);
  • is obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate;
  • infringes anyone's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
  • discloses another person's private or personal information without their consent;
  • contains software viruses, malware, or any code designed to disrupt or damage software, hardware, or data; or
  • constitutes unsolicited advertising, spam, chain letters, or pyramid or other schemes.

3. Protecting the Platform

You must not:

  • use robots, spiders, scrapers, or other automated means to access, copy, harvest, or index the Platform or its content without our written permission;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Platform;
  • circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features, rate limits, or access controls;
  • introduce malware or take any action that places an unreasonable load on, or interferes with the proper working of, the Platform;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Platform, other accounts, or our systems; or
  • copy, mirror, or reuse Platform content to build or operate a competing or derivative service.

4. Honest Use & Marketplace Integrity

You must not:

  • impersonate any person or business, or misrepresent your identity, affiliation, qualifications, licensing, or insurance;
  • post fake, incentivized, or retaliatory reviews, or otherwise manipulate or undermine reviews, ratings, or search rankings;
  • create more than one account, except where we expressly allow it (for example, a paid Professional managing multiple companies);
  • circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, any fees owed to HouseHub;
  • collect, harvest, or store other Users' personal information except as needed to legitimately connect for home-related work; or
  • contact or solicit Users for purposes unrelated to a genuine home-service connection, including recruiting them to competing services.

5. For Homeowners

If you are a Homeowner, you agree to: submit genuine Job Requests for work you actually intend to have done; provide accurate information; make only lawful requests; and use a Professional's contact details only to discuss and arrange legitimate Home Services. Do not request anything illegal, unsafe, or that you do not have the right to request.

6. For Professionals

If you are a Professional, you agree to: hold and maintain all licences, certifications, bonding, and insurance required by law for the Home Services you offer; comply with all applicable laws; describe your business, services, and credentials truthfully; honor the commitments you make to Homeowners; not misrepresent any badge or status; and communicate professionally. You are responsible for the conduct of your employees, contractors, and subcontractors.

7. Reporting Violations

If you see content or behavior that violates this Policy, or that raises a safety concern, please report it to us at support@househub.ca. We review reports and take action where appropriate, but we are not obligated to monitor the Platform and cannot guarantee that we will review or act on every report.

8. Enforcement

We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, take any action we consider appropriate for a violation of this Policy or our Terms of Service, including removing or disabling content, issuing warnings, limiting features, suspending or terminating accounts, withholding or forfeiting fees, and cooperating with law enforcement. We are not liable for actions taken in good faith to enforce this Policy.

9. Changes & Contact

We may update this Policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date shows when it last changed, and your continued use of the Platform means you accept the updated Policy. Questions about this Policy can be sent to support@househub.ca.
